Mitsubishi rescues Colts from NedCar

AMSTERDAM – Mitsubishi sent over 20 extra lorries to the NedCar production plant in the Dutch town of Born on Thursday to remove its stock of finished Colt cars.

A spokesperson for the Japanese company said Mitsubishi wants to avoid employees taking the cars "hostage" in a dispute about the factory's future.

"We don't want to enter a situation wherein we can't deliver cars to the customers, due to action by the trade unions. Such a situation would be bad for both Mitsubishi and NedCar," the spokesperson said.

Mitsubishi sends 45 lorries to NedCar everyday to collect Colts and bring them to the customers. An additional 22 lorries were sent to Born on Thursday to ensure all the finished cars will be removed from NedCar by Friday.
